Niantic has announced that Research Breakthrough encounters for September and October will be with Eevee wearing flower crowns. Trainers also have the chance to encounter a shiny Eevee wearing a flower crown.

The encounters for July and August were legendary Pokemon Latias, Latios, Kyogre or Groudon. Chance encounters with shiny variants of any of the four were also possible.

Many trainers have taken to Twitter to argue that Research Breakthrough encounters with hippie Eevee’s instead of legendary Pokemon is a step backwards:
